DR. CHRISTOPHER MICHAEL, DIRECTOR OF ENGLISH/LANGUAGE ARTS IS SELECTED “2022 ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR” BY SSLMA
Dr. Christopher Michael, Director of English/Language Arts, has been selected by the Suffolk School Library Media Association as “2022 Administrator of the Year.” Dr. Michael received the a letter from Michelle Robinson, President of the SSLMA, in which she said, “I am delighted to inform you that you have been selected as the 2022 Administrator of the Year by theSuffolk School Library Media Association. Congratulations on receiving this honor. The nomination submitted by Melissa McParland, Hauppauge Middle School Librarian, demonstrated how deserving you are of the award. Melissa spoke highly of your support of school librarians and recognizing them as integral parts of each school team. She also praised the way you foster collaboration between librarians and other departments in your district.” The award by the SSLMA is given to an administrator or administrative in an educational setting in Suffolk County who has made a significant contribution to the school library program. Some guidelines are: - Exhibits knowledge/understanding of library issues and practices - Exhibits educational leadership - Fosters participation in school library system activities - Fosters an atmosphere of collaboration between school librarians and classroom teachers - Views the school librarian as part of a school-wide team
