HIGH SCHOOL PERFORMING ARTS STUDENTS ARE ACHIEVING GREAT THINGS!

Dr. Laura Landor, Director of Fine and Performing Arts, has great news! First, it was announced in August that Angelina Mercurio has been named a Long Island Scholar Artist for Theatre and Rose Recce earned an Award of Merit for Music. Each year, the “Long Island Scholar Artist Program”, which is sponsored by the Long Island Arts Alliance, recognizes students who excel academically, and in the areas of either music, visual arts, dance, theater or media arts. Angelina and Rose will be honored at a Scholar-Artist Induction Ceremony to take place at the Tilles Center which is located on the campus of LIU-Post, on Wednesday, September 11th.

Secondly, Dr. Landor was thrilled to announce in late August that the following students were selected as All-State participants for the 2019 NYSSMA All-State Conference in Rochester, NY:

Luca Iallonardi – Mixed Chorus
Sophie Epstein – String Orchestra
Aidan Lobenstein – String Orchestra
Emily Michels – Treble Chorus
Rose Recce – Treble Chorus

Dr. Landor said, “This is a huge honor and I couldn’t be more proud! The Hauppauge Music Department has a history of always being represented at the NYSSMA Conference. This is a testament to our hardworking students, supportive families and outstanding music educators from Kindergarten through High School.”
Congratulations to all of these accomplished Fine Arts students!
