  • Grade 4 & 5 Band Practice-A-Thon

    During the month of March, the band will be helping raise money for LI Cares by participating in a Practice-A-Thon! The band will be helping others, while students are helping themselves get better by practicing! For every minute a child practices at home students can raise money for our local food bank.   • Hunt for Happiness Week

    It has been said the third Monday of January is "Blue Monday". It may be a result of coming down from the excitement of the holidays, it may be the shortness of the days or the cold. Whether statistically accurate or not it is known that some people face winter blues. Forest Brook students and staff will be on the "Hunt for Happiness" all week. The event was inspired by the Secret Society of Happy People. There will be daily activities and an award for students who participate. Happy hunting!

  • Arbors Chorus

    Forest Brook's 4th & 5th grade chorus students visited the Arbors in Hauppauge to sing some holiday songs and spread some cheer!

  • Smithtown Hall Tree Lighting

    The Forest Brook & Bretton Woods Advanced Bands spread some holiday cheer this season by performing at Smithtown Town Hall’s Holiday Tree Lighting! On Wednesday, November 28th the bands played together after the tree was lit. Students braved the cold to play several holiday tunes including First Christmas March, Jingle Bells, Rudolph, and more. The 5th grade students in Mrs. Champlin’s Advanced Bands had a great time performing for the community and can’t wait to play again next year! Bravo band! Click the headline for additional pictures.

  • Class of 2011

    Forest Brook's Class of 2011 returned to their beloved elementary school to walk the halls one last time as graduating seniors. Current Forest Brook students congratulated them as they walked through the building. The seniors ended their visit by taking a class photo on the playground as they did years ago as kindergarten students. Congratulations to the Hauppauge High School Class of 2018!

  • Long Island Cares

    Students in the Forest Brook Band participated in the Harry Chapin Practice-A-Thon during the month of March to raise money for the LI Cares Food Bank. For every minute they practiced in March students earned a penny, nickel, dime, or quarter from their sponsor(s). Students then mailed their donations to help families in need. The winners with the most amount of practice minutes were Kayla Reddy and Michael Crafa. Congratulations to our winners! Keep practicing!

    Student Government took a trip this week to the Stony Brook Veterans Home. Students worked with residents to complete various art projects. The veterans and students really enjoyed their time together! Such a wonderful experience for all!

    Student Government sponsored a Heart Sale February 5th- February 9th. We were able to raise $200.00 through the support of our Forest Brook families. Save-A-Pet in Port Jefferson truly appreciated our generous donation. Thank you!

    Forest Brook students and staff gathered by the flag pole in honor of September 11th. Mrs. Reingold lead everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a moment of silence. Before returning to class Mrs. Champlin performed a patriotic song on the Horn.

  • Forest Brook's Student Government Visits Stony Brook Veteran's Home

    Forest Brook’s Student Government visited the Veterans’ Home in Stony Brook where the students assisted the Veterans during their arts and crafts session. In addition, the students distributed cards to the Veterans to thank them for their service to our country. The cards were made by all the Forest Brook students. What a rewarding experience this was for everyone!

  • Physics Classes at Forest Brook

    On Wednesday, June 8th, Hauppauge High School’s IB Physics II and AP Physics C students visited the third, fourth and fifth grade classrooms at Forest Brook to demonstrate a physics phenomena as their final class project.     Forest Brook Elementary School students and staff gave a rock-star-style greeting to the ALS participants in the 2016 ALS Ride for Life.     Student Government students organized a Book Swap at Forest Brook!! Students had fun swapping their gently used books during their lunch period. This fun idea allowed students to bring gently used books from home and swap them with books that other students donated to the book swap. The left over books from the Book Swap will be donated to Angela’s House!

  • Kindergarten Students at Forest Brook have a special visitor.

    Alicia Hogan Murphy is a children's author who was a 4th grade teacher here at Forest Brook Elementary School about twenty years ago. This past week she returned to Forest Brook to read her first publication, The Muddy Foot Prince, to the kindergarten students. She is coming out with a 2nd book of children's poems this spring. The students really enjoyed her visit!

  • Stony Brook Children's Hospital

    Forest Brook's second grade students send best wishes for a speedy recovery to the children at Stony Brook Children's hospital. The students wrote letters to the children who might be spending the holiday in the hospital this year. They wanted to let them know they were thinking of them and to wish them all cheer and good health for the holiday season!

  • Toy Drive

    Student Government has been very busy this year. Thanks to everyone at Forest Brook, we were able to give boxes and boxes of toys to the “Christmas Magic” charity. Mr. Charlie Russo, who organizes this collection, was thrilled with the amount of toys we collected. They will be given out to many children over the holiday season to help put a smile on their face! Once again, great job Forest Brook!

  • Suffolk County Farm

    On Friday, November 20th, the 2nd grade classes from Forest Brook Elementary spent the day at the Suffolk County Farm in Yaphank, NY. The children participated in educational centers that mimicked what life was like in the 1870's. The children milked a pretend cow, made tin luminaries, churned butter, hand dipped candles and role played in a general store.
