Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Joy Ferrara, Assistant Principal
Dear Hauppauge Family,
For the past 15 years, I have been truly blessed to be a part of the Hauppauge community as your assistant principal. I have watched our students flourish under the guidance of the exceptional teaching staff and through the support of wonderful, caring families. I am excited for this new school year and the opportunities that lay ahead for our students, faculty, and community.
Originally from a small New Jersey shore town, I attended St. John’s University as an undergraduate. Upon completion of my college degree, I earned a graduate degree in International Law and worked in Manhattan for several years until heeding my life’s calling. At the age of 29, I pursued a graduate degree in education and taught American History for 9 years in a nearby district. During that time, I went back to graduate school for formal training as a school leader and began in Hauppauge in 2003 as the assistant principal of the middle school.
Your son/daughter’s high school years will fly by - trust me. My son is entering his senior year of high school and it felt like yesterday we sent him to kindergarten. We encourage you and your child to get involved in all that our high school has to offer. The research tells us that students are more likely to succeed when they feel connected to school. At Hauppauge High School, we are truly committed to the success of each student and welcome you to a new school year!
