Dear Hauppauge High School Community,
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as High School Principal at Hauppauge High School and have enjoyed my first month getting to know the school, staff and students. In the years ahead, we hope to build upon the work of Christine O’Connor and the impressive team at HHS! I believe that the Hauppauge team, both at the school level and district level, along with what I have observed from the community and students, positions the high school to be extraordinary. I have always craved being part of excellence, and I have made a career cultivating individual and collective improvement. I have a lot to learn from Hauppauge and I believe I can offer some things, too. I look forward to working hard, greeting students as they come into the building each day, walking hallways, attending events, spending time in classrooms observing teaching and learning, and building relationships.
Originally from Long Island, I attended Shoreham-Wading River schools from my elementary years through high school graduation. I then attended Northeastern University in Boston for my undergraduate degree. Upon completion of my college career, I started teaching in Boston schools. Eventually I completed formal training to become a school leader, serving in leadership roles for the better part of the last decade. Over the last 11 years in schools in Boston, I have enjoyed the opportunity to learn, teach and lead in a variety of settings while working alongside incredible educators and in service of student growth. I am eager to take what I have learned and support the ongoing pursuit of excellence occurring every day at Hauppauge High School.
For context on why we have moved back to Suffolk County, NY, the explanation is simple: it’s home. After 15 years in Boston, my wife and I decided to return to Long Island. We’ve moved to the area with our three young children (ages 6, 3, and 1). We are deeply excited to be here, to be nearer family and to join the Hauppauge school community.
While I am highly energetic and ambitious, I firmly believe that my purpose is to support the individuals I work with to be their very best. I know firsthand that kids need constant and close support in order to stay on track to achieve their dreams. Growing up, I was lucky enough to have some great role models — peers, teachers, coaches, family members, and grandparents — who showed me what it means to work hard, to care for others, to educate effectively, and to be committed to goals. I am thankful every day for the supportive people and role models I’ve had, and each day I strive to pay forward my gratitude.
We are getting ready for the beginning of the school year and we’re eager to continue to provide the very best education possible to the students of Hauppauge High School.
