    TODAY IS THURSDAY, MARCH 7TH , A DAY 2 ON YOUR SCHEDULE.

    IN HONOR OF MARCH BEING WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH, HAUPPAUGE HIGH SCHOOL WILL SPOTLIGHT SIGNIFICANT WOMEN THROUGHOUT THE MONTH.  TODAY WE ARE SPOTLIGHTING DOROTHEA LANGE.  DOROTHEA LANGE WAS A PHOTOGRAPHER IN SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, DURING THE GREAT DEPRESSION.   SHE PHOTOGRAPHED PEOPLE WAITING IN A BREADLINE.  FROM THAT DAY ON, LANGE PHOTOGRAPHED EVENTS IN AMERICAN HISTORY.  SHE IS MOST FAMOUS FOR HER PHOTOS OF POOR FAMILIES DURING THE GREAT DEPRESSION.  LANGE’S PHOTOS BROUGHT THEIR STRUGGLES TO THE ATTENTION OF THE WORLD.    BE SURE TO CHECK OUT THE BULLETIN BOARD IN THE MAIN OFFICE HALLWAY.

     

    PTSA SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION IS AVAILABLE IN THE MAIN OFFICE.  DEADLINE IS MARCH 15TH.

     

     

    DRAMA CLUB MEETING TODAY AFTER SCHOOL AT 2:15 IN ROOM 381.  DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT $200 – COME, WE HAVE COOKIES AND IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO JOIN.

     

    THIS FRIDAY BEFORE SCHOOL, THE HAUPPAUGE GSA WILL BE COLLECTING DONATIONS FOR THE MATTHEW SHEPARD FOUNDATION.  THE FOUNDATION IS NAMED AFTER A COLLEGE STUDENT IN WYOMING WHO WAS KILLED FOR BEING GAY IN 1998.  THE PURPOSE OF THE FOUNDATION IS TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR HATE CRIMES AND EMPOWEROTHERS TO BE ACTIVISTS AGAINST HATE.  WE WILL HAVE HEARTS TO FILL OUT WITH MESSAGES OF HOPE FOR ANYONE WHO DONATES.

     

    ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS:  THERE WILL BE A COLLEGE DAY PROGRAM IN THE GYM ON TUESDAY, MARCH 12TH DURING PERIODS 8 AND 9.  OVER 50 COLLEGES WILL BE REPRESENTED.  PLEASE PICK UP A PERMISSION SLIP IN THE CAREER CENTER ACROSS FROM GUIDANCE.  PERMISSION SLIPS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE ON THE DAY OF THE COLLEGE DAY PROGRAM.  PHOTOCOPIES OF PERMISSION SLIPS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.  YOU ALSO CAN ONLY ATTEND ONE PERIOD, NOT BOTH. 

     

    IF ANY GIRL WOULD STILL LIKE TO JOIN THE SPRING TRACK TEAM, PLEASE STOP AT THE NURSE’S OFFICE TO PICK UP A PERMISSION SLIP.

     

    MARCH MADNESS CONTINUES THIS WEEK WITH COZY DAY ON FRIDAY.  STAY WARM IN SWEATPANTS AND SWEATSHIRTS.

     

    STUDENT COUNCIL WILL BE MEETING THIS UPCOMING MONDAY, MARCH 11TH IN ROOM 267.  ALL CLUBS, CLASSES AND SPORTS TEAMS SHOULD HAVE REPRESENTATIVES ATTEND BUT ANYONE IS WELCOME.

     

    CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR FRESHMAN BLUE HOCKEY TEAM FOR FINISHING UP THE SEASON IN FIRST PLACE IN THE SUFFOLK COUNTY HIGH  SCHOOL HOCKEY LEAGUE WITH THEIR 3-0 WIN LAST NIGHT OVER EASTPORT SOUTH MANOR WITH 2 GOLAS BEING SCORED BY HAUPPAUGE FRESHMAN JAKE A.  BEST OF LUCK IN THE PLAYOFFS.
