Winter Message from
the Director of English Language Arts
As the days get shorter and the temperature drops, I am hoping you and your students in grades K-12 will put some time aside to pick up a good book to read wrapped up warmly in a favorite blanket or with your feet up by the fireplace. Remember that students have a variety of digital resources to pick from to enjoy a good read. More information related to available digital platforms can be found following this link.
For students in grades K-7, we have been fortunate to be a Teachers College Reading and Writing Project school district for over 5 years. Our students have benefited greatly from our relationship with Columbia University in the quality of instruction, the resources and materials and the on-going training and support to teachers provided by this world renowned institution. During the Covid crisis, Teachers College has stepped up to provide videos and digital resources, many free of charge, to enhance classroom learning for all students. In an effort to support families at home, additional materials have been created to provide you with resources to help your students at home to continue to grow as readers, writers and learners. We share with you a letter from Teachers College along with links to a variety of resources. We hope you find these tools useful and a benefit to your students.
Wishing you a wonderful holiday season!
All the best,
Christopher Michael, Ed.D.
