I have been privileged to work with the Hauppauge School District since 1987. I have worked on the elementary, middle, and high school levels. While the majority of my caseload consists of IEP-recommended counseling, I provide services to mainstream students as well. In addition, I have supervised 2nd year, Masters level Social Work student interns for the past 26 years, all of whom have retained a caseload of their own.
I provide individual and group counseling, staff collaboration and training, participate on the Instructional Support Team and Committee on Special Education, and coordinate the 8th grade orientation program for classified students. I am excited to continue advising the Social Awareness/SADD club. Our officers and members already have some projects in mind to start the school year. See the resources and links page for an update.
I look forward to continuing to support to students in grades 9-12 as they strive for success in their high school careers.
Please also see resources and links page for community referrals and programs. Included in these is information regarding the concept of Growth Mindset to which Dr. O'Hara has been introducing the staff. I will continue to update these as new resources come to our attention, so check back often.
