Hi Everybody, and welcome!
 
I'm extremely passionate about books, literature, writing, and libraries. I've been a commissioned officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, a bookstore manager, a public librarian, and a teacher of high school English.  I'm also a published author, and I speak regularly at state and national library conferences.
 
In 2013, the Suffolk School Library Media Association awarded me "Librarian of the Year."
 
And my love of books, literature, and writing doesn't stop in the workplace. I designed and built a library in my house for my two-thousand-plus books. Besides being an avid reader and writer, I'm a pretty good carpenter.
 
But my biggest passions in life are writing and literature. My favorite authors include Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Vonnegut, James Joyce, and, of course, Shakespeare (the subject of my doctoral thesis).  
 
I have studied writing and literature extensively, and have taught these subjects on the university level, as well as in high school.  I have also run a university writing center, and I started the writing center in the high school library. I'm also the inventor of the "School Library Writing Center," which is the subject of my book Create Your School Library Writing Center: Grades 7 - 12 (published by Libraries Unlimited, an imprint of ABC-CLIO).
 
As you can see, a library is the perfect place for me, and I absolutely love being a library media specialist in the Hauppauge School District.
