My name is Ms. Scharrenbroich and I am a reading teacher at Forest Brook Elementary School. I am very excited to be in the Hauppauge School District. Reading is a gift you can open again and again. My goal is to promote a love of reading in all children. I am very passionate about reading and literacy development, and I hope to share that passion with you this school year. I enjoy incorporating engaging instruction for all of my students and watching them grow as lifelong readers. I truly cherish supporting my students in their growth and success and celebrating each accomplishment.  There is no greater gift than this! My favorite book to read to my students is Giraffes Can't Dance.  It is a wonderful book, teaching children about accepting everyone who is different, embracing their own differences, and building confidence within themselves!

The mission of the Hauppauge Elementary Reading Department is to provide the opportunity for our students to become readers, writers, and lifelong learners in a safe nurturing learning environment guided by the principles of balanced literacy and aligned with New York State English Language Arts Learning Standards. By using a variety of genres, it is our goal to prepare all students to comprehend and analyze complex text and develop a love of literacy.
