What is the purpose of Student Council in Hauppauge High School?
The purpose of the Student Council shall be to:- Promote the concept of student leadership.
- Provide a forum for student participation in the operations of Hauppauge High School.
- Serve as a builder of school spirit.
- Encourage and guide co-curricular clubs.
- Help formulate a student activities calendar.
- Assist in the evaluation of the student activities program.
- Serve as a sounding board for student or club problems.
- Represent the student body in student concerns with faculty, administration, the Board of Education, and community at large.
- Carry on service projects for the betterment of the student body.
- Coordinate inter-class activities.
- Raise money to maintain and carry out Student Council activities.
- Make amendments to this Constitution for the betterment of Hauppauge High School as the need arises.
- Increase school spirit among students, faculty and community. Mentor other students who are interested in running for a position in Student Council the next year. Current officers will keep a log of what was done.
