My Name is Mrs. Zeltmann, I have taught in Hauppauge for 16 years as a 7th, 8th, and 8 honors math teacher.  This year I will be teaching CC 8th grade as well as CC Algebra.  I am very excited for the 2017-2018 school year.  We have great activities planned and I look forward to getting to know all of my students.  

Here are some things to look out for:

• Correction Journals: The students will be working in their correction journal daily.  This is a one or two subject notebook in which they will be copying incorrect questions into.  Any questions that they did not get correct from a homework and or quiz/test will be recorded into their notebook, one question per page.  This is a strategy to help them identify and resolve any issues they have in math.  In essence, it is a daily study strategy.  Please occasionally ask your child to see their journal. Correction Journals will be checked twice a week.
• Khan Academy: You should be familiar with this program.  If you are not already familiar, please look the program over.  We will be working with Khan Academy on a weekly basis.  

                        I will be checking that khan Academy is complete every Monday.  If your child's minutes are not up-to-date, you will be receiving an email asking you to encourage your child to bring their minutes up to date.  Below are the requirements for each class:

                                      Grade 8 CC (periods 1,2 and 4):  Students must complete 5 minutes every day Monday - Friday.  This works ot to 25 minutes every week, and 250 minutes a quarter.  

                                     Algebra 1 (periods 7 and 8):  Students must complete 6 minutes every day Monday - Friday.  This works out to 30 minutes every week, and 300 Minutes a quarter.
