October 2014 - 7th grade students experienced Exploration Day at the Hauppauge Middle School. Students began their day with a town meeting of the monarchs of Europe played by Hauppauge HS students. The monarchs debated whether or not exploration was worth it. Students asked the monarchs questions. Afterwards, students had an opportunity to explore six stations that fit into the four categories of Leadership/Exploration Experience, Resources, Legacy and Technology.
Exploration Day 2014: The Age of Discovery
October 2014 - 7th grade students experienced Exploration Day at the Hauppauge Middle School. Students began their day with a town meeting of the monarchs of Europe played by Hauppauge HS students. The monarchs debated whether or not exploration was worth it. Students asked the monarchs questions. Afterwards, students had an opportunity to explore six stations that fit into the four categories of Leadership/Exploration Experience, Resources, Legacy and Technology.
At the end of the day, students participated in a writer’s workshop with the help of teachers and HS History Club students. The day ended with a debate over the question, “Was exploration worth it?”
