The High School Theatre Department produces one drama/comedy every fall and one musical every spring under the direction of Ms. Ruth Pincus. The Middle School students perform one musical every winter. During any given production, as many as 200 students from stage crew to orchestra pit to actors contribute to the success of the performances. The Theatre Department has received many accolades for the outstanding performances including best ensemble, best lighting and acting awards from the Islip Arts Council Teeny Awards over the past several years.
Throughout the school year, High School Theatre Students present anti-bullying performances for all schools within the District. They also conduct theatre workshops for middle and elementary school students.
The High School Theatre Department is in its second year of organizing Stage the Change: Theatre as a Social Voice Conference for NY metro school districts. The conference is designed to empower schools to use their own theatre students to promote social acceptance and awareness in their own schools.
